Facing adversities

In consultation it is very common to meet children, youth and adolescents with psychological problems such as anxiety, depression, suicidal ideas and traumatic situations that generate great suffering for the person. My job is to help them develop new capacities to face this pain.

Anxiety

If your child presents physical complaints on a regular basis, refusal to go to school, hyperactivity, excessive worry or discomfort when separated from home or primary attachment figures, with fear of losing parents or of something bad happening to them or with resistance to being alone and/or has repeated nightmares with content of abductions, accidents and losses, it is possible that he/she suffers from anxiety. Depression

If your child has any symptoms such as feeling depressed, fatigued, sad, irritable or frequent crying for no apparent reason, physical complaints, trouble concentrating, spending less time with friends or in after school activities and/or often feels that everything is his or her fault or that he or she is not “good enough” to do anything, he or she may be suffering from depression. Bullying: bullying and cyberbullying

Does your child show loss of clothes, books or unexplained injuries, avoidance of social situations, isolation, physical complaints, changes in eating habits, neglect of personal appearance, decreased self-esteem, increased loneliness and signs of sadness or anxiety, are these some signs of bullying as a form of social mistreatment that your child is facing alone? Self-injury

Does your child or someone you know talk about self-injury, suspicious scars, wounds that won’t heal, regular cuts in the same places, increasing isolation or refusing to change clothes at school or at home, are some signs of self-injury, which can become increasingly dangerous for the child or adolescent, if not detected and treated. Suicidal behavior

Does your child talk about death, does he show hopelessness, does he feel blocked, does he see no reason to live, has he lost family contact, does he seem distant, absent or depressed, does he not want to go to school or has his performance in class decreased? If this is your case I can help you.

Separation or divorce

Depending on the age of the child or adolescent, different symptoms are observed such as regressive behaviors, sadness and introversion, feelings of guilt, being adolescence where problems such as depression, truancy, drug abuse or suicidal ideation will also arise.
